Primary Care Clinical Psychologist / Behavioral Health Consultant
The Primary Care Center at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychologist to join our Primary Care team and faculty as a Behavioral Health Consultant. The ideal candidate should have expertise in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. As a Behavioral Health Consultant, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive mental health care, promoting behavioral change and improving the overall well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough contextual assessments and diagnostic evaluations to understand patients' mental health concerns, behavioral patterns, and emotional well-being,
- Use standardized assessment tools and interviews to formulate accurate diagnoses,
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient's needs and goals,
- Collaborate with patients to establish achievable treatment objectives,
- Provide individual treatment using various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and others,
- Offer psychoeducation to patients about mental health conditions and effective coping strategies,
- Implement behavior modification techniques to address maladaptive behaviors and promote positive changes in patients' lives,
- Assist patients in developing and implementing behavioral change plans for issues including, but not limited to, stress, adjustment, anxiety, depression, grief, pain, insomnia, weight loss, diabetes, and high blood pressure,
- Work collaboratively with primary care clinicians, and consult with other healthcare team members to integrate behavioral health strategies into patients' comprehensive treatment plans,
- Provide immediate psychological support and intervention during mental health crises, assessing risk and ensuring patient safety, and
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, as well as institutional policies and procedures.
