What you will do:
You'll be responsible for managing a team of Senior Complex Adjusters who handle the most severe Workers' Compensation claims received by the company. As a leader, you will also provide meaningful coaching, training, and development to your team. With your leadership, you will be responsible for the team's operational excellence and exceptional service to our customers. In this position, you will also participate in quality assurance to ensure claims handling accuracy. This position requires strong people and project leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, technical skills, and knowledge of multiple jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee WC Senior Complex Examiners' direct handling and overseeing claims of complex and serious nature across multiple jurisdictions.
- Responsible for reviewing the investigations, analyzing liability and settlement values, adjusting reserves, extending authority and consulting with his/her manager regarding claims exceeding his/her authority.
- Operate on an independent basis and manages the senior complex team with the goal of mitigating, negotiating and settling claims within assigned authority with a strong focus on overall claim resolution and incurred adequacy.
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of Workers' Compensation laws and claims practices which covers all of the Regional Claim Offices and each jurisdiction.
- Assist with development of WC Claim Department training and initiatives that promote best claim practices, regulatory compliance and WC expense management.
- May perform supervisory functions and the duties of the department Manager in his or her absence.
- Ensure that staff members comply with the provisions of the Statement of Business Ethics and Business Practices and appropriate monitoring of staff activities to identify potential violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Conform with all corporate policies and procedures.
What you need:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Relevant insurance industry designation preferred.
- Prior supervisory or related leadership experience.
- 5-10 years administering complex workers' compensation claims.
- Knowledge NY and NJ jurisdictions required.
- Additional jurisdictional knowledge including but not limited to MA, CT, PA, and IL preferred.
Licensing:
Required to obtain your license(s) as an adjuster in the state(s) in which you are assigned to adjust claims. Licensing must be obtained within the timeframe set forth by the Company and must be maintained as needed throughout your employment.
Salary range: $100,000 - $140,000
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
