Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following and other duties as assigned:
Accurately reads, rereads, and rechecks various electric and water meters and records reading in hand-held device and other applicable equipment; keeps accurate records.
Drives company vehicles in the course and scope of employment, in a safe and professional manner.
Assists with the repair and maintenance of water meter boxes and ERTs, upon direction.
Inspects and reports meters and connections with defects, damage, and/or unauthorized connections.
Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reason(s) for fluctuations.
Answers customer questions with accurate information, tactfully, or politely refers customer to Customer Service.
Turns service off for non-payment, as directed.
Handles dogs and other animals safely and with good public relations.
Distributes and attaches hang notices in visible locations.
Delivers NSBU mail, including outgoing bills, to USPS daily.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and calculate figures, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Computer Skills
Ability to use and understand Microsoft Office products and meter reading equipment.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this job, with or without an accommodation. These include close, distant, and color vision. The incumbent is exposed to risks such as wet and/or humid conditions; and outside weather conditions, including extreme cold and/or heat.
Education and Experience
This position requires the following education and experience:
High School Diploma/GED required. Previous meter reading experience preferred.

Other Qualifications
Florida Driver’s License Class E required. Ability to work flexible hours, as required.
