Position Description
This Planner I position interacts with a diverse customer base on meeting electrical design needs and is responsible for providing successful outcomes for clients on assigned projects. Daily, a planner will be designing and/or reviewing overhead and underground electrical distribution scope ensuring design is in accordance with required design standards. This position will require excellent communication skills to meet multiple project deadlines and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Manage numerous design projects from inception to delivery
- Coordinate with internal and external personnel and/or organizations to ensure compliance of policies, procedures and design standards applicable to his/her assigned projects
- Define scope requirements for preparation of preliminary electrical and civil design
- Identify any environmental concerns and need for special permitting and/or easements for each project assigned
- Prepare work order documents, create and review work order drawings, and complete final work order packages
- Deliver safe and reliable product to client
- Maintain safety conscious work environment by following company and client safety protocols
- Ability to work independently and stay on task
- Ability to hit deadlines
- Excellent communication and consistently available during working hours
- Accurate and detail oriented
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills/Qualifications
- Combination of education and experience to adequately complete assigned task, including performing electrical utility distribution planning preferred
- Ability to meet competing deadlines
- Proficiency using industry standard pole loading software and/or drafting software
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working outdoors and indoors
- Experience with SPIDA Calc, SAP, Design Manager preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear and sit
- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity for company equipment
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (weather)
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- This job operates in a professional office environment and home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, photocopiers, smartphones and company vehicle. This position may be responsible for operating a company vehicle.
- Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: A company vehicle may be assigned in this role, so a clean driving record is required for this position.
