Vegetation Planner
Job Description:
- Inspect and assess vegetation in the right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans
- Communicate the reasons and benefits of utility vegetation line clearance to property owners
- Notify property owners of vegetation clearance work to be performed
- Assist with permitting for DOT, railroads, and municipalities etc.
- Travel to assist across all regions
- Handle customer complaints related to the scheduled work and/or completed pruning
- Check trees for hazard or danger potential
- Communicate daily with the foresters, contractors, and general public
- Document information for vegetation management program using GIS based software
- Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications:
Candidate(s) will be required to meet the following requirements:
- Must have solid tree identification skills and ability to read maps
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail
- Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
- Experience working with data collection devices and GIS software
- Bachelors or Associates in Forestry, Arboriculture or Horticulture a plus
- Inventory or surveying experience a plus
- ISA Certified Arborist qualification or able to obtain within 6 months
- Safe driving history
- Able to operate 4x4 vehicle
- Must be able to work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility transmission power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demand and travel from site to site.
