Duties and Responsibilities
The Trailer Technician Trainee will perform all work assigned and progressively learn to achieve these tasks in the allocated time while demonstrating progressive skill development consistent with established Company quality standards. He/she will learn and have work experience with various welders and tools used in making all types of repairs on all types of semi-trailers. Each job assignment will be performed in accordance with D.O.T. requirements and industry standards.
- Perform all types of welding (i.e., aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel). Learn essentials.
- Perform all styles of each phase of welding (i.e. - Tig, Mig and Arc).
- Perform repairs and modifications on all styles of trailers as assigned.
- Maintain the allocated time frame for all repairs and modifications.
- Contribute to the work assignment from acquired experience and knowledge.
- Diagnose and make recommendations on repairs as required.
- Attend training seminars and classes as required.
- Operate a forklift, scissor lift, and other power equipment with proper certification and training.
- Maintain knowledge of safety requirements and compliance strategies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Previous heavy-duty trailer repair experience (preferred)
- Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair (a plus)
- Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems preferred.
- Experience with various hand tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical strength and stamina.
- Welding or fabrication experience (preferred)
Salary: $22-$30 per hour depending on experience
