Utility Global is looking to hire an experienced and hands-on Electrochemist or Electrochemical Engineer to lead our research efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with extensive experience in solid oxide cells (SOFC or SOECs) and research and development. The Electrochemist or Electrochemical Engineer will play a pivotal role in recommending and implementing new testing strategies, new applications of the eXero™ Technology and research directions to drive impactful and profitable results in the near term. The successful candidate should possess exceptional management skills, business acumen and a proven track record of bringing products to market swiftly. This role will be based in our Denver, CO Advanced Technology Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical excellence and innovation in the field of mixed electronic-ionic conducting solid oxide systems by designing and developing new testing processes, identifying next generation materials and exploring new applications.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team to ensure the successful execution of research projects and the development of commercially viable technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including engineering, numerical simulation, applied technology and business development to align electrochemistry initiatives with overall company goals.
  • Create and execute a clear roadmap for product development, ensuring timely delivery of innovative solutions to the market.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, initiative and collaboration within the team, promoting an environment conductive to problem-solving.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technological advancements and competitive landscape to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and progress updates to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education Required: A Ph.D. in Electrochemistry or a related field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Material Science) with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the development and research of solid oxide fuel cells or electrolyzers.
  • Proven experience in successful completion of project and product development.
  • Ability to strategically assess technical advancements for their commercial viability.
  • Track record of bringing products to market swiftly with a focus on generating profitable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new testing processes and identify novel materials for solid oxide applications.
  • Pragmatic and goal oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Creative problem solver with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and developing innovative solutions

Salary : $165,000 - $210,000
