ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Project Consultant for Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations Expansion will provide strategic guidance and operational expertise to help UTMB Health advance its ambulatory pharmacy services. This role will focus on identifying growth opportunities, driving revenue, and optimizing existing programs such as specialty pharmacy, infusion services, and the 340B program.
The consultant will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop actionable strategies, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical to positioning the organization as a leader in ambulatory pharmacy, enhancing patient care, and creating new/strengthening partnerships within the UT health system entities.
ENGAGEMENT TERMS
This is a casual appointment (up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits). The engagement will continue until the completion of the project objectives or until terminated by either party. Either party may terminate the agreement with 30 days' written notice.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
Comprehensive Infusion Services Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic plan for expanding infusion services, including non-hospital-based ambulatory infusion centers (AICs), home infusion services, and other cost-effective sites of care to reduce denials and enhance access.
Specialty/Mail-Order Pharmacy Service Expansion: Expand payer contracts, gain access to limited drug distribution (LDD) networks, and enhance revenue opportunities through optimized specialty pharmacy services.
Health Plan Integration: Develop a business plan to integrate pharmacy services with the health plan, ensuring alignment with value-based care initiatives and driving cost savings.
340B Program Optimization: Identify opportunities for revenue growth and compliance improvement in the 340B program while expanding patient access and enhancing clinical outcomes.
Integration with Other UT Health Systems: Create a strategic plan to integrate other University of Texas (UT) health systems into the ambulatory pharmacy business, leveraging UTMB’s 340B status to drive revenue and improve access.
Expanded Clinical Programs: Develop new clinical services and programs to improve patient care, focusing on chronic disease management, medication adherence, and outcomes-based care.
