Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent and three years of related experience.
Must be capable of demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a post-offer employment test as administered by UTMB Rehab Services. This job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. floor to knuckle and 50 lbs. knuckle to shoulder and requires frequent bending, standing, and walking.
Job Summary:
To provide specialized skilled work associated with technically advanced systems (HVAC, high-pressure boilers, electronics, and DDC). Responsible for providing specialized skill in the construction, operation and maintenance of systems.
Job Duties:
- Performs work on the designing, installation, maintenance, and operation of specialized systems at UTMB.
- Coordinated commissioning of specialized systems on new construction or renovation projects.
- Maintains proper system operating parameters to maintain the integrity of specialized systems.
- Confers with users in order to gain an understanding of their needs and/or provides technical advice.
- Performs work from written or verbal instructions, specifications, blueprints, or wiring diagrams.
- Uses troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify system problems.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance on specialized equipment and systems.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- Standard office environment.
- Occasional exposure to the construction environment.
- Usual working conditions are found in mechanical rooms, electrical, and electronic working conditions.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions, electrical hazards, or temperature extremes.
- Proper safety and precaution must be closely observed when operating and repairing specialized equipment and systems.
- Climb ladders and stairways and work on building rooftops of high elevation.
- Work in confined spaces such as ceilings, under-floor crawlspaces, and manholes.
- May be required to work extended or rotating shifts.
