Job Description:
We are seeking a family medicine nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at UVA Primary Care Waynesboro.

- Office hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
- Work schedule: 4-day work week with rotating call among all providers

About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced practice provider services, including assessment and management of patients across various clinical settings. This will involve working in conjunction with medical directors, administrative management, nursing, and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exercise independent judgment in assessing, diagnosing, and initiating medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience
- Perform and document comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, including initiation of CPR or other emergency therapies as needed
- Formulate diagnoses, identify health risk profiles, and document findings to communicate effectively with other healthcare team members
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues
- Perform procedures within scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges
- Request consultations and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers, including specialists when necessary
- Evaluate and analyze patient responses to disease processes and therapeutic interventions
- Provide information, education, and support to patients and families regarding disease processes and treatment plans
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as determined by department or unit
- Manage patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures
- Meet quality standards as determined by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree
- Department and unit-specific experience
- License or license-eligible as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia
Physical Demands:
- Standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, reaching, and repetitive motion using a computer keyboard
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 pounds
