Administrator, Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection (SHLD)

UVA Health, a premier academic health system committed to advancing healthcare, is excited to announce the opportunity for a strategic, experienced, collaborative, and mission-oriented professional to serve as the inaugural Administrator, Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection for UVA Medical Center and the Charlottesville clinical footprint of UVA Health.

The Opportunity: The Administrator of Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection is a newly created role, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for sterilization and high-level disinfection services across UVA’s Medical Center, clinics, and ambulatory sites in Charlottesville.

This leader will drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to support patient safety and high-quality care. The Administrator will develop strategic plans, manage budgets and resources, and mentor staff to support growth and development while collaborating closely with health system leadership to align operations with UVA Health’s goals and lead future innovations, such as the exploration of potentially developing an offsite sterile processing facility.

Qualifications: The Administrator must be experienced, strategic, analytic, creative and collaborative. They must display good judgement, have experience leading change, and be a person of integrity whose beliefs and actions align with UVA Health’s mission and values. The successful candidate will additionally have:

• Bachelor's degree; master’s degree preferred and must be obtained within 4 years of hire or transfer.
• 10 years of executive financial or operational experience in a large healthcare organization demonstrating leadership, strategic thinking and responsibility for operations. Experience in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.
• Experience in managing/directing both high-level disinfection and sterile processing.
• Skills in written and verbal communication with a demonstrated orientation to mentoring/coaching and collaboration.
• Knowledge of AAMI standards and The Joint Commission accreditation standards for hospitals.
• CRCST or CSBL/CHL certification required within 3 years of hire.
