What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Design Specialist position at UVA Health?
The Instructional Design Specialist contributes to the success of nursing professional development by supporting the development, implementation, delivery and maintenance of online and blended courses. The Instructional Design Specialist implements pedagogical best practices and suggests ways to enhance the effectiveness of courses. The Instructional Design Specialist continuously explores emerging pedagogies, learning science, high-impact practices, new technologies, and learner-centered strategies. Supporting the Nursing Professional Development Practitioner, the Instructional Design Specialist works collaboratively to create meaningful, learner-centered instructional experiences. This role necessitates in-person work at our 2965 Northridge location.
Collaborate with NPD Specialists within NPDS in the design, development, scheduling, delivery and evaluation of nursing-centered online and blended courses
Support NPD Specialists to develop engaging course materials and associated assessments that lead to transformational learning
Manage course implementation using the Workday Learning management system
Foster positive working relationships with NPDS team and other stakeholders to enhance buy-in for instructional design collaboration
Monitor and evaluate course implementations using course data to guide revisions, refinements and updates
Develop authentic assessments that help learners synthesize and apply their learning
Provide technical and instructional support to NPDS team and other stakeholders
Plan and manage projects to ensure on time development and delivery
Identify appropriate and creative design solutions to meet learner needs and course objectives
Write clear and concise content, including course objectives, communications, scripts, assessments, and related text
Foster positive working relationships with stakeholders to enhance the buy-in for use of the ACEMAPP system in managing clinical student placement
Manage clinical student placement through the ACEMAPP web-based platform
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $53,497.60 - $85,592.00 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree. Post graduate Certificate in Instructional Design & Technology (or completion within 12 months of hire). Significant experience in online class development may be considered in lieu of a degree in instructional design.
Experience: Demonstrated experience designing and developing courses and assessments. Demonstrated experience with accessibility, usability, and learner-centered design. Demonstrated expertise maximizing the functionality of online Learning Management Systems to design engaging, effective learning experiences.
Licensure: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
