What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Technician (Wage) position at UVA Health?
The Respiratory Technician is responsible operational and patient care tasks related to the availability and readiness of supplies/equipment as well as providing assistance to a Registered Respiratory Therapists with specific patient procedures.
Retrieve and perform disinfection, assembly, calibration, performance check and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
Documents safety checks, calibrations and equipment readiness for use.
Transport items requiring high level disinfection or sterilization to Sterile Processing according to organizational policies.
Ensures oxygen cylinders are stored per regulatory and hospital guidelines.
Transports malfunctioning equipment to Clinical Engineering.
Deliver supplies and ready for use equipment
Monitors non-stock supplies and collaborates with administrative specialist/designee to maintain sufficient levels of inventory.
Monitors stand-by equipment and redistributes as necessary to support patient care
Adhere to Infection Prevention regulatory guidelines
Other duties as assigned Position Compensation Range: $15.00 - $19.39 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
