JOB SUMMARY:
As a Diagnostic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures using a range of specialized equipment, assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. This role involves working with advanced imaging and diagnostic technology to obtain accurate results while ensuring the safety and comfort of patients. Reports to Radiology Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Diagnostic Tests:
- Conduct various diagnostic imaging tests, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, Nuclear Medicine tests and other specialized procedures.
- Accurately capture and record data from diagnostic tests to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing conditions.
- Patient Care and Interaction:
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests by explaining procedures, ensuring they understand the process, and addressing any concerns.
- Position patients correctly for procedures to obtain the most accurate diagnostic results.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout the testing process, ensuring they are at ease and well cared for.
- Analyze and Interpret Results:
- Review diagnostic results for accuracy and quality, ensuring they meet professional standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to interpret results and provide any necessary follow-up instructions to patients.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate diagnostic equipment, such as Fluoroscopy and C-arms, adjust settings to optimize results.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly, and report any malfunctions or required repairs.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, diagnostic procedures, and test results, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Ensure that all documentation is up to date and properly filed in patient records.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols to minimize patient exposure to radiation or other risks during diagnostic testing.
- Ensure that all tests are conducted in accordance with healthcare standards and safety guidelines, following infection control procedures.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work as part of a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, radiologists, and nurses to provide high-quality care.
- Communicate effectively with patients to prepare them for tests and explain the next steps in their care.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- AAS degree in Radiology Technology or certification from an approved Radiology program.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current BLS for healthcare providers’ certification required.
- Eligible for MRI, CT, Nuclear Med, Echo, Ultrasound, Mammography, DEXA registry preferred.
- Certification:
- Current BLS for healthcare providers’ certification required.
- Radiology: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and/or CRT Certification required.
- Ultrasound: Eligible for ARDMS or ARRT. Registry required within 1 year of hire.
- Licensing: Radiology: Current Radiology Texas Medical Board (TMB) License required.
- Experience: Experience working with diagnostic imaging equipment and laboratory testing is preferred.
- Skills and abilities:
- Strong technical skills and the ability to operate diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail for analyzing test results and ensuring accuracy.
- Strong patient care and communication skills, with the ability to put patients at ease.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to diagnostic procedures.

Functional Job Requirements:
Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.
