JOB SUMMARY:
An Environmental Services (EVS) Technician in a healthcare setting plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The EVS Technician is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe healthcare environment by performing a variety of cleaning and sanitation tasks. This role is vital for infection control and patient safety within the healthcare facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, nursing stations, treatment areas, and other healthcare facility spaces.
2. Sanitize and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and furniture to prevent the spread of infections.
3. Empty trash containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas following safety protocols.
4. Stock and maintain supplies such as cleaning agents, paper products, and trash bags.
5. Follow established procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous materials.
6. Respond promptly to requests for cleaning services from nursing staff, patients, or other departments.
7. Assist with special cleaning projects and emergency clean-up situations as needed.
8. Adhere to infection control guidelines and safety protocols at all times.
9. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and respect patient privacy at all times.

QUALIFICATINOS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Previous experience in environmental services or janitorial work preferred.
3. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals used in healthcare settings.
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
6. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Working Conditions: The Healthcare EVS Technician primarily works indoors in a healthcare facility, often in close proximity to patients and medical equipment. The role may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and biohazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment.

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers.  Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.
