Position Summary:
The Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator will oversee the functional and technical operation, enhancement, and maintenance of the LMS platform, ensuring that it supports training needs across all mission-critical areas. This role involves coordinating system operations, managing user access, developing training solutions, and ensuring the platform adheres to applicable business requirements and technology standards. The position requires expertise in integrating technology into training programs and driving the adoption of emerging learning technologies across the organization.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the LMS platform, ensuring reliability, functionality, and accessibility for users.
- Configure system settings, permissions, roles, and hierarchies to meet organizational needs.
- Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to the LMS platform.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for LMS operations and end-user support.
- Monitor system performance and partner with internal teams, instructors, and vendors to optimize LMS usage.
- Identify process and quality improvements and provide feedback on system defects, enhancements, and usage.
- Monitor monthly releases and ensure system changes and deployments are effectively managed.
- Create, update, and deactivate user accounts as necessary, ensuring proper access control and security.
- Monitor and troubleshoot user access issues, providing timely resolution.
- Provide guidance and technical support to users, instructors, and course designers.
- Analyze user activity data to identify trends and address system issues.
- Manage user structures, including user groups and learning cohorts.
- Oversee course enrollment, tracking progress, and managing learning paths, certifications, and compliance training.
Publish and archive online or blended learning solutions and manage course curricula. - Oversee the course asset library, including content management and user assignments.
- Develop and update standardized tools and reporting for ongoing access to learning information.
- Generate custom and standard reports to analyze course progress and recommend improvements.
- Build online assessments and evaluations within the LMS for courses.
- Manage third-party vendor relationships, ensuring smooth course integration with the LMS platform.
- Administer and maintain course revisions and history tracking.
Provide troubleshooting support for users experiencing issues with LMS access and functionality. - Resolve system functionality issues and coordinate with vendors when necessary for technical support.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and technologists to address technical problems affecting course content and access.
Develop and generate custom reports on user progress, course completion, and compliance. - Provide data insights to support the development and improvement of organizational learning strategies.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and user guides for the LMS platform. - Conduct training sessions for administrators, instructors, and course creators on LMS functionality and best practices.
- Document system changes, configurations, and integrations to maintain an accurate record for reference.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in LMS administration, preferably on a major platform.
- Expertise in system configuration, user management, and course management within an LMS environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Experience with creating and managing reports and data analytics to support learning initiatives.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and their integration with learning technologies.
- Familiarity with emerging learning technologies and the ability to drive their adoption within the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation and provide user support.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and users.
Education and Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Instructional Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications in LMS administration, instructional design, or related areas are a plus.
- Familiarity with e-learning development tools and techniques is desirable.
