JOB TITLE:
Personal Trainer
JOB PURPOSE:
The Campus Recreation Fitness Program strives to encourage a healthy, balanced lifestyle to all participants through inspiration, teamwork, and positivity. Our instructors and trainers are a team dedicated to getting people moving together. As a fitness team member, you will be exposed to educational topics around exercise science and programming, team building, and leadership. Your entry into teaching fitness or training clients follows a clearly structured shadowing process (usually lasting one semester) to ensure you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to deliver impactful movement-based experiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain and maintain necessary fitness certifications within the first 6 months of employment.
- Design and implement safe, effective, and enjoyable personal training sessions with a variety of clientele.
- Conduct fitness assessments and monitor the progress of clients. This may include assessments of body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility, mobility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance as appropriate for client goals.
- Have a solid understanding of exercise science, anatomy, and wellness principles.
- Provide personalized attention and customer service to clients and Campus Recreation patrons.
- Will be asked to teach or at least assist with group fitness classes.
- Obtain or show proof of CPR/1st Aid.
- Assist with special programs/workshops/fairs.
- Communicate effectively, utilize scheduling software, and be able to maintain a flexible schedule.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Assist with cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST BE A STUDENT to apply
- MUST graduate NO EARLIER than May, 2026.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- NOTE: Holding a current Fitness or Personal Training Certification is NOT required to apply but MUST BE OBTAINED within the first semester of employment while completing the shadowing process.
