JOB TITLE:
Referral Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE:
Facilitate patient navigation to specialty services as referred by clinic providers. Coordinate referral process to include benefit and insurance verification and authorization as well as patient scheduling and communications. Position is located in the UW Family Medicine Clinic in Cheyenne, WY.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate patient referrals from providers and maintain tracking and documentation.
- Serve as primary contact for patients, providing communications and information for specialty services.
- Ensure complete and accurate patient registration including demographic and up-to-date insurance details. Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
- Contact patients’ insurance companies for prior authorization to ensure approval requirements are met. Confirm referral requests and requirements.
- Facilitate requests from referral sources and provide relevant information.
- Investigate and problem solve issues or concerns in referral process to ensure positive working relationships.
- Provide excellent customer service and timely follow-up and response.
- Provide clerical functions for clinic, facilitating flow of information between medical staff, providers, insurance companies and patients.

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on site at the clinic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or GED
Experience: 1 year of customer service experience
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
