What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Assistant Teacher position at UW Children's Center at West Campus?
University of Washington Children’s Center at West Campus is a full-day Montessori Program with Infant, Toddler and Preschool classes. We are looking for full-time Toddler Assistant Teacher.
Hours are 10:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday
You must have a negative TB test upon hire. Within 30 days of hire, if not already completed you must:
- Pass a background check
- Complete CPR, First Aid, & BBP training
- Obtain a Food Handler’s Permit
- Sign up for STARS 30 hour Basic Training and complete it within 3 months
The role of the assistant teacher is critical to the smooth and consistent flow of the day. You are an important guide within the classroom and are a partner in the implementation of a quality early childhood education experience for each child. You must work as a team player with the lead teachers as well as other assistant teachers. You must be flexible, positive, love children, and be self-directed!
The right person for this job is:
- Eighteen (18) years or older with a high school diploma
- Patient and compassionate
- Able to take direction from peers
- Able to lift 30 pounds from floor to shoulder height (approx. 4 feet)
- Able to keep up with running children
- Able to negotiate stairs comfortably
- Able to attend to child at ground level
- Able to commute to UW Seattle Campus reliably
