Pay Range: $95,800.00 - $143,800.00 / year

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides management support and coordinates unit operations with 24-hour accountability.  Oversees and manages department staff ensuring the delivery of quality, cost effective patient care with the Health Care System.  Establishes unit goals and objectives which support the Hospital's goals, values and mission.  Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Minimum:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Minimum:                  

Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.

CPR Certification.

Preferred:

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Experience in nursing leadership.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

 

Excellent communication, organization and critical-decision making skills.

 

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels with in the organization and community.

 

Successful completion of annual clinical, age and specific competencies and skill verification tools required.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees Unit operations with 24 hour accountability ensuring the provision and delivery of age appropriate patient care and providing support to physicians, hospital staff, patients and their families.

 

Establishes Unit goals and objective that support the Hospital’s mission, vision and values and monitors Unit compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.

 

As a coach and role model, manages the Unit providing counseling and supervision to staff and ensuring compliance with department and hospital rules and regulations and human resources policies. Responsible for employees hiring, orientation, performance evaluation and improvement and discipline processes.

 

Oversees, evaluates and monitors clinical and quality patient outcomes maintaining a balance between quality and cost efficient services.

 

Develops and maintains communications systems and documentation processes to maintain effective Unit Functioning and regular dissemination of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.

 

Provides input for and monitors unit fiscal requirements.

 

Facilitates staff professional development, ensures competency validation and fosters teamwork and collaboration among all members of the multidisciplinary team.
