Pay Range : $18.34 - $24.77 / hour

POSITION SUMMARY :
Assists the Pharmacist in providing service to all areas of the UW Health SwedishAmerican Health System. Performs technical duties necessary to maintain the medication distribution system and possess the capability of learning multiple software systems. Exemplary customer service skills including collaborative working relationships with patients, multidisciplinary teams, and the public. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES :
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills required.
Proficiency and ability to use a computer and a variety of common office equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate and develop collaborative working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
Must be able to pass a pharmacy technician evaluation test with at least a 70% score. The evaluation test is administered by the HR Department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
Accurately fills physician orders. Keeps proper records.
Accurately delivers medication carts to nursing units and exchanges the medication cassettes.
Performs the correct calculation for the compounding and packaging of odd dose and unit dose medications. Correctly bar coding all medications that are repackaged.
Prepares all parental, irrigation, cytotoxic and hazardous medications using aseptic technique.
Assists with inventory management by initiating the reorder process. Replenishes floor stock and automated dispensing machines. Ensures adequate supply of medication and supplies and maintains accurate pricing.
Maintains equipment and keeps all work areas clean and sanitary.
Accurately enters and adjusts as necessary all drug charges in computer following established procedures. Reconciles the discontinued medications returned to Pharmacy.
Contributes to the department QA / QI projects.
