POSITION SUMMARY: Follows TJC patient safety goal requirements to accurately and appropriately identify the patient. Ability to perform under high stress while responding to codes including Cardiac Arrest, RRTs, and Traumas. Works accurately and efficiently in hospital and/or outpatient locations (Emergency Room, Inpatient including CCU, and Outpatient Lab). Collects specimens following proper protocol from all age groups (newborns to geriatric). Prepares patients for and performs venous and capillary collections and instructing patients on post collection follow-up. A Resource throughout the facility to assist nurses and coworkers with specimen collections for critical and non-critical patients. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. |
