What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiographer position at UW Health in Northern Illinois?

Pay Range: $28.79 - $43.18 / hour

Additional components of compensation may include:

- Evening, night, and weekend shift differential
- Overtime
- On-call pay

Per Diem Staff will not be eligible to participate in any associate benefit plans sponsored by the Health System.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides radiologic imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Utilizes ALARA principles during examinations. Implements radiation protection and safety standards.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Minimum:

Completion of accredited Radiologic Technologist program

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Minimum:

Certification by ARRT in Radiology
Current license from IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency)
CPR certification required within three (3) months of hire

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Previous healthcare experience (clinical training during Rad Tech program will count as experience)

Preferred:

Experience as a hospital radiographer
Two years of clinical experience

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

•	Uses AIDET for every patient; every time. (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You).
•	Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort. Applies principles of radiation protection.
•	Selects appropriate protocol to perform procedures successfully. Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic exams and administers contrast media or medications prescribed by licensed practitioner following state statue(s) and institutional policy.
•	Evaluates images for technical quality and assures proper identification. Manipulates studies for accurate archiving.
•	Monitors the supplies. Maintains a neat and clean environment and performs equipment quality control checks. Reports any equipment malfunctions in an accurate and timely way.
•	Provides clinical instruction and evaluation for students or other health care professionals as required.
•	Uses the computer system in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
•	Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.
