POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops and coordinates activities and infection control measures which prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases throughout the Health System. Educates staff and provides ongoing orientation programs relating to infection control and disease prevention. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Experience in Infection Control/Prevention and/or Public Health required. Board Certification in Infection Control preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Infection Prevention experience in acute care setting or clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting. Knowledge of principles of epidemiology and infectious disease. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with patients, physicians, families, managers and members of the community under varied conditions. Excellent organizational, critical-thinking and conflict resolution skills required. Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill validation tools.
