POSITION SUMMARY:
The milk lab tech is responsible for preparing and distributing human milk, formula feedings and enteral feeding to NICU and pediatric population, while also maintaining appropriate documentation to ensure safe feeding practices are in place for patients. This position is also responsible for performing inventory control, conducting audits and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice. The Milk Lab Tech works as part of an interdisciplinary team with the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The Milk Lab Tech will assist with the training of new staff and other disciplines as needed.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous Pharmacy Technician, science lab experience or nutrition experience is preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Serve Safe Food Handler certification required to be completed within 30 days of hire.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to interact with staff in many departments to deliver care. Excellent analytical skills to gather analyze and interpret data. Attention to details. Customer Service oriented. Excellent verbal, written and math skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Time and task management skills. Ability to prioritize and problem solve. Ability to type. Previous experience with computers is preferred.
