This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative. RISE-EARTH, which stands for Environment: Adaptation, Resilience, Technology, and Humanity, will strengthen the university's ability to address challenges and opportunities related to the environment, translating discoveries into tangible benefits at home in Wisconsin and beyond the RISE-EARTH Initiative.
We welcome applications from geoscientists with expertise in critical mineral resource formation, characterization, and/or recovery. This expertise could be in any of the processes involving the mobilization, concentration, or separation of critical minerals, or related topics positioned at the interface of Earth sciences, sustainability, and mineral resources. Competitive candidates could utilize a wide range of research methods, including but not limited to field-based research, geochemistry, geophysical and remote sensing, socioeconomic analysis, and/or geostatistical data-driven analysis and modeling. We welcome candidates who can contribute to environmental justice considerations of geological resource extraction and bridge existing strengths in our diverse research efforts in hydrogeology, biogeochemistry, geophysics, geochemistry, rock mechanics, sedimentary and structural geology, paleobiology, and paleoclimate. The successful candidate will also advance the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science, that values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and (undergraduate student) mentoring.
