Job Summary:
Delivers and assists with planning of geospatial outreach program for State Cartographer's Office (SCO). Helps maintain and strengthen existing relationships with community partners. Helps identify new opportunities to expand outreach and collaboration to diverse audiences aligned to SCO mission and statutory responsibilities. Develops and delivers outreach and educational content to community, securing needed resources. Develops materials for community partners, including datasets, maps, analysis and/or online apps. May assist with geospatial field work and data collection.
This position will be a key staff member in a new initiative to deliver educational content and other materials to community partners. Funding for the position will be generated from external grants, contracts and workshop fees. This position will assist with the identification of new funding sources. The position will be paid on an hourly basis for actual hours worked, and schedule for this position may be variable. The position is part-time, with anticipated average hours per week approximately 16. Actual hours worked may be variable from week-to-week depending on activities being undertaken. Limited or no work may occur some weeks, depending on available funding
The initial term of this appointment is 2-3 years, with the possibility of being extended based on funding.
Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

- 20% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
- 25% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
- 25% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
- 5% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
- 5% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
- 5% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers

- Strong skills in cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Experience with instruction at various levels including GIS/cartography
- Experience with modern geospatial data and tools including ArcGIS Pro and AGOL
- Experience with application development in AGOL
- Experience with field work and GIS-based field survey tools
- Knowledge and experience using Lidar data and other advanced geospatial datasets
- Experience and previous/existing working relationships with Wisconsin-based community groups
- Ability to travel, both locally and across the state
- Ability to work on own with limited supervision
- Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
