University Housing is looking for an experienced Supervisor to join our Facilities team! As the Building Services Assistant Director, you'll lead and support a team of building supervisors overseeing the 2nd and 3rd shift building services operations in the Residence Halls, as well as the building services responsibilities of the Gordon Dining and Event Center at UW-Madison. You'll help foster a collaborative work environment and will support the building services team in critical project goals and daily operations. Primary schedule is either Sunday - Thursday or Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts between 2:00pm - 7:00am. Schedule will vary based on operational need and will be determined upon hire.

- 30% Develops, directs, and monitors the implementation of cleaning standards, emergency planning and response, and staffing strategies across multiple work units
- 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 15% Identifies, develops, and facilitates unit staff training opportunities
- 20% Monitors unit record keeping to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- 20% Develops and implements preventative maintenance program and staffing for Residence Hall Facilities Housekeeping
- Assists leadership with the overall maangement of the Housekeeping operation
- Communicates with residents, parents, staff, and guests to address service requests
- Creates, promotes, and participates in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service
- Develops and monitors staffing labor needs for seasonal and ongoing work
- Incorporates and effectively uses technology to complete work
- Manages and leads supervisory staff and student employees
- Performs maintenance and custodial work on an emergency basis, or as needed to support staff efforts
- Processes all paperwork, purchase orders, and credit card statements per campus purchasing policies
- Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency
- Trains and ensures compliance to prescribed cleaning standards
- Efficiently transport staff, move supplies & respond to emergency situations
