Department Description

The Security Services team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the Harborview campus in a manner that is consistent with UW Medicine Patients Are First Service Culture Guidelines

Hospital Security Officers provide assistance and effective problem resolution for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the multiple departments of Harborview, in both patient and non-patient areas

Primary Job Responsibilities

While modeling UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines and utilizing excellent customer service skills, the responsibilities of a Hospital Security Officer include oversight of the campus from a security perspective, response to emergencies, and enforcement of select policies

Oversight and inspection of assigned areas of Harborview campus (on foot or by vehicle)

Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety

Respond to calls for assistance and assist medical personnel; obtainment of information and preparation of written reports

Coordination with medical professionals, police officers, firefighters, and senior management

Incident investigation and dispatch duties

Providing of information and accessible customer service assistance to the public

Required Position Qualifications

High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver's license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science or allied field; OR two years of police or campus security experience

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except with there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
