What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool/ Early Childhood Teacher Assistant position at UW Oshkosh Head Start?
Are you FUN, CREATIVE and Enjoy working with Preschool Age Children? We are in need of a Teacher Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year in our Fox Valley location.
Teacher Assistants are an essential component in our UW Oshkosh Head Start classrooms. You will work closely with a teacher to support high quality early childhood programming for 17-19 children. You support in providing comprehensive education, family support and health services to assist the whole child and family in school readiness. Our program embraces the High/Scope curriculum, offers many professional development opportunities, and implements Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline programs to support social/emotional development.
We offer a competitive salary of $29,550.40-$31.504.00(9-month contract) which equates to $16.79-$17.43 per hour and great benefits. We also have a great hiring incentive happening now! Applicants hired into this position will receive a $500.00 bonus after 90 days of employment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or degree in related field with experience working with preschool children.
- Extensive knowledge of child development, appropriate observation/assessment methods in early child development and demonstrated knowledge of implementing early childhood curriculum.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Successful completion of criminal background checks.
- Minimum Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) minimum requirement.
PREFERENCES
- Experience in a Head Start program
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework
- Prior experience working with preschool ages children.
