Job Summary:

The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry within the School of Medicine and Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry is an interdisciplinary, research-driven department, housed within the Hector F. DeLuca Biochemical Sciences Complex. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a world-class academic institution with an international reputation for fundamental, translational and cross-disciplinary research and is located in the heart of one of the country's most livable cities.

The successful candidate will carry out research, teach and mentor students and staff, and participate in administrative and committee work to support the scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to 1) develop a vigorous and internationally recognized research program, 2) attract and maintain extramural funding, 3) teach and mentor graduate, undergraduate and medical students within the field of Biomolecular Chemistry, 4) participate in faculty governance activities and 5) participate in professional, public, and university service. These duties will be performed at the following percentages: 75-80% Research; 10-15% Teaching; 5-10% Service.

The successful candidate's research program should focus on molecular mechanisms and their link to human health and disease. Research areas should build upon strengths in the department including chromosome and RNA biology, gene expression, development, metabolism, and cellular signaling. Terminal Degree

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or closely related field required by application date.

Qualifications:

Three (3) years of post-doctoral training required. Ideally in chromosome and RNA biology, gene expression, development, metabolism, and cellular signaling.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
