Position Overview
Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Cheer Coach to lead our cheerleading program. The ideal candidate will foster school spirit, build strong team culture, and promote student growth both on and off the field. This individual will serve as a mentor and leader to student-athletes while upholding the values of UCA.

Essential Responsibilities
Plan and facilitate cheer practices focused on skill development, safety, and teamwork.
Lead the cheer team during middle school athletic events, school functions, and community events.
Teach cheer techniques, chants, stunts, and routines in alignment with safety standards.
Promote an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
Collaborate with the Athletic Director and administration to coordinate schedules and logistics.
Ensure compliance with UCA, NC DPI, and athletic association guidelines, including student eligibility and safety training.
Communicate regularly with families regarding schedules, expectations, and student progress.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel as needed.
Model professionalism, sportsmanship, and leadership at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cheerleading as a coach or athlete.
Ability to build rapport with middle school students.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Completion of required training (e.g., NFHS Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Illness Prevention).
Commitment to UCA’s mission and core values.
