What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Uwharrie Point Community Association?
Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of administrative, accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping functions. Candidate will take care of accountabilities including the execution all company day-to-day financial tasks, accounts payable and receivable along with all payroll and bank account management and reconciliation. The employee will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
The employee is expected to cross-train on various tasks and associated with Administrative Assistant duties.
General
- Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and relevant state laws and governing documents.
- Promote the Association as a first-class property.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all owner, employee, and property information.
- Strive to provide competent, prompt, and courteous service to all owners, contractors, and guests. Assist in answering incoming calls, take messages, and forward calls to appropriate party. Maintain neat and orderly work space and files.
Primary Responsibilities
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Reconcile bank accounts at the end of each month
- Monitor financial transactions and reports
- Process accounts receivable and payable
- Process checks
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 12 person staff
- Prepare month-end and year-end financial reports
- Prepare annual budget with information provided by Manager
- Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Monitor, report and send late notices
- Provide accurate account information to collection attorney for timely filing of judgements and liens on past due accounts
- Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies Work with Managing Agent and accountant when necessary
- Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws Improve functional capabilities
- Work with Treasurer to initiate trades through investment account and CDs
- Track investment activity
- Reconcile investment accounts on monthly basis
- Monitor expected overages or savings and report monthly
- Assist with audit support as needed
- Provide documentation to accounting firm for tax preparation
Other Responsibilities
- Assists other office staff in housekeeping duties to maintain office in a clean and orderly manner. Assists office staff in installing vehicle access tags as need.
- Performs and oversees process to convert official company documentation to electronic format Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Proven accounting experience, preferably as an accounts receivable clerk, accounts payable clerk, or bookkeeper
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Face-to-face customer interaction in business setting
- Competency in Microsoft Office
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets, financial reports and statements
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
- Data entry and work processing skills
- Well organized
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Salary
- $20-25/hour depending on experience
Experience
- Bookkeeping (1-2 years preferred)
- Accounting (1-2 years preferred)
Education
- Accounting 1 and 2 from accredited school (Required)
- Associates in Accounting (Preferred)
