About this exciting opportunity
In the position of Communication Officer - Digital you will work as a member of a small team to effectively manage AIMS’ digital presence, engage with audiences, and contribute to the overall success of AIMS’ communication plan, which is aligned to AIMS Strategy 2030, by making complex scientific research accessible to non–expert audiences through integrated communications. Communication activities will illustrate AIMS’ science value and impact through engaging written and visual content via web and social media platforms, traditional media, e-newsletters, and information sheets.
You will develop opportunities for digital communication to deliver AIMS’ science stories to the local, national, and international community, and activities will include external media relations and marketing communication. You will also contribute to broader team activities and goals, including ongoing review and evaluation of AIMS’ digital media communications.
About you
Underpinning your suitability for this position will be your experience developing and delivering content on AIMS online channels and online science media and news media organisations. You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to generate innovative ideas and develop communication plans that align with organisational and project objectives including demonstrated delivery of effective social media campaigns, content initiatives, and web projects that have driven engagement and achieved measurable results.
Your Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as digital media, journalism, media or communications studies, or other relevant experience will be highly desirable along with PADI rescue diver or equivalent, and a willingness and ability to participate in fieldwork including on water activities to capture written communication and visual content at remote, offshore and underwater locations.

- AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($93,934 to $106,895 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
