What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Low Voltage/Communications Technician position at V.I. Communications, Inc.?
V.I. Communications is currently seeking a Lead Low Voltage Telecommunications Technician. The Lead Technician will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for low voltage and cabling installation projects. His/her task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
V.I. Communications is a complete design and installation contractor for communication infrastructure, including fiber optic and high-speed copper installations in addition to audiovisual, access control, and security camera solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently run project crew; assume responsibility for effective performance
- Assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings.
- Initiate performance related communications and escalate to Project Manager if necessary.
- Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion and compliance with project budget.
- Serve as the main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attend facility and constructions meetings when required.
- Install, Troubleshoot and repair Telephone, Data and Fiber Optic Cables
- Test and certify cables with Level V test equipment
- Adhere to all quality and safety codes
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass hair follicle drug testing, background check and MVR check
- Must have a TWIC card
- Previous experience in telecommunications or other related fields
- Experience terminating fiber is preferred
- Experience working in an industrial / petrochemical setting is preferred
- Familiarity with audiovisual, access control and surveillance camera solutions
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and blueprints
- Familiarity with copper & fiber optic testing equipment and hand tools
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Military Experience Preferred but not Required

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
