Responsibilities

The Paint Prep Technician is a critical role at V&J Auto Body and is responsible for surface preparation operations prior to priming/painting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sand and smooth vehicle surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion
  • Clean and degrease surfaces to remove contaminants and prepare them for painting
  • Mask off areas that should not be painted using tape and protective coverings to ensure clean paint lines
  • Follow industry and manufacturer procedures diligently by adhering to the provided work order for each listed operation
  • Utilize provided technology and software to update vehicle status and document procedures executed
  • Utilize industry-standard tools and equipment to complete paint prep work efficiently and to high-quality standards
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, including body technicians, painters and detailers, to ensure a seamless repair process from start to finish
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as relevant safety guidelines, to ensure a safe working environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the shop at all times
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest paint-prepping techniques and industry advancements through continuous learning and professional development
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: shop maintenance, shop projects, company initiatives, etc

Requirements:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a paint prep technician, 3 years experience preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of paint prep techniques and industry best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and diagnose vehicle issues appropriately
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members
  • Professional attitude and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift items up to 50lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
