What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Manager position at V.K. KNOWLTON CONSTRUCTION & UTILITIES, INC?
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan and oversee a wide variety of construction projects beginning to end. You will be working with engineers and architects as needed. The Construction Project Manager we are looking for will have previous experience in construction management projects and familiarity with Heavy Civil Sitework for Residential and Commercial work as well as utilities as it pertains to sewer, water and storm.
The ideal applicant will be highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall success of the project execution for utilities.
Responsibilities
· To work directly with the Construction Team regarding all aspects of the construction
· Report progress internally to Construction Team, Vice President’s and externally to clients
· Issue progress updates regarding costs and timelines
· To track all material invoices for material that has been ordered for the projects
· To order all long lead material items for utility work in the field
· Explain the estimate/bid to the job employees to ensure job completeness
· Explain contract and technical matters in a clear manner
· Manage costs in order to meet budget
· Collaborate and respond to the engineer, general contractor, architects and their team to resolve issues
· Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers and subcontractors
· Contracting with subcontractors
· Provide direction over contracts and subcontractors
· Problem-solving to address delays, emergencies or other issues
· Develop As-Built Drawings
· Work with sewer video and manhole coating subcontractor
· Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships
· Complete all daily, weekly and monthly tasks timely
Requirements
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software I.e. Microsoft Excel
· Demonstrate knowledge of construction engineering, and architecture principles
· Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
· High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms and conditions
· Familiar with construction and project management software programs
· Able to speak with clients in a professional, positive and proactive manner to build personal relationships
· Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities
· Able to accept and use clear and concise direction in order to complete work assignments
· Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
· Able to set realistic deadlines and follow up to guarantee quality results
· Able to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager duties
· Understanding of construction management process
· Previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects
· Conflict resolution experience

Skills & Qualifications
· College degree in the appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
· 1-2 years of experience in project manager within construction with emphasis on Site and Utility Construction
· Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings
· Possess attention to detail skill
· Great customer service, communication and customer service skills
· Proven leadership skills
· Exceptional time management skills, ability to estimate work effort and time needed for various construction jobs
· Good writing skills for proposals and reports
· Excellent technical skills and understand of construction methods, contract and blueprints
