What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Structural Analysis Engineer (all genders) position at VÆRIDION?
Your mission
As a Junior Structural Analysis Engineer (all genders), you will support the VÆRIDION Aircraft Structures team in performing structural analysis and design of airframe components. Your tasks will primarily consist of static and dynamic analyses of composite, metallic and hybrid structures on various levels of details, including classical structural analysis techniques, and finite element analysis including the pre- and post-processing required. This will involve a highly multidisciplinary mindset, considering the requirements, inputs, outputs and constraints from other aircraft disciplines and systems. Your analyses will be substantiated with manufacturing and structural testing at various levels. You will thereby contribute to the development of VÆRIDION’s set of tools and methods, and support the team on the path towards airframe certification. You will be granted a high degree of autonomy and responsibility to accomplish your tasks whilst also receiving support, guidance and knowledge from the team as needed.

VÆRIDION is a fast-growing deep tech start-up based in Munich, Germany. Since the restrictions by law on CO2 emissions for domestic and short-haul air travel will stimulate Green Regional Air Mobility, we believe it's our mission to provide an aircraft for Zero emission regional flights.
At VÆRIDION our goal is to develop, build and certify a full electric microliner carrying up to 9 passengers for Short-Haul and Regional Air Mobility by 2030. A full electric microliner is cleaner and cheaper to operate than other aeroplanes in its class, it provides a better travel experience door to door up to 500 km. We offer new optimized design based on proven principles, around proven and available technology in electric motors and batteries, that brings lowest risk and shortest route to certification.

Your Day-to-Day
- Design and model aircraft structural components in CAD in preparation for analyses on various levels of detail (conceptual, preliminary design and detailed design).
- Support the establishment of static and dynamic structural analysis methods and guidelines, including classical analysis techniques and parametric finite element methods.
- Support the derivation of design allowables through material data handbooks, supplier technical data sheets, and consultation with the wider structures team.
- Perform trade studies of structural design options to optimise weight, manufacturing rates, and cost whilst satisfying performance and system requirements.
- Interface directly with material suppliers, manufacturers, and testing partners.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings for testing, and where necessary, participate in mechanical testing.
- Support in parallel-running research projects.
- Master’s degree in aerospace structures, mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence in performing structural analysis with state-of-the-art tools and software (e.g. Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus, Altair etc.).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g. Catia, SolidWorks, and/or Siemens NX).
- Extensive knowledge of composites, their properties and design guidelines (with a particular emphasis on design-for-manufacturing).
- Experience with programming for analysis and optimization (Matlab, Python, etc.).
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage and execute multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, any other European language would be a plus.
