Description:
- Performs inspection, diagnoses, repairs, and monitors systems structure, gear, controls, power, and electrical and/or electronic systems and components as assigned.
- Receives technical guidance from team leads and/or supervisors, which may be more senior technicians.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, machines, and ancillary equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
- Reads and interprets service and manufacturer maintenance manuals, instructions, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of maintaining and repairing malfunctioning systems, and/or ancillary equipment.
- Follow specific requirements for Ordnance maintenance IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and maintenance instructions.
- Cleans aircraft parts and assemblies with solvents or other cleaning solutions.
- Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned based on skillsets.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years experience with aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of parts for the assigned position.
- Demonstrated use of technical publications and guidance.
- Demonstrated experience with aircraft and equipment logs and records, and specific experience with the aircraft type to be supported.
- Mechanical support positions require a broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and/or structural modifications and repair and must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Electrical and avionics positions must have basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft's unique tools such as test equipment, indicators, and meters.
