Essential Duties And Accountabilities
Operates and performs operational checks on ground support equipment, to include forklifts, tow tractors, and various weight handling equipment.
Performs Daily and Preventative Maintenance inspections on-ground support and weight handling equipment.
Uses publications to inspect, service, and repair ground support and weight handling equipment.
Uses publications to train others in operation and performing operational checks on-ground support and weight handling equipment.
Checks out and turns in ground support equipment as required.
Performs tire and wheel build up.
Completes applicable maintenance forms.
Identifies and treats corrosion.
Performs Other Related Duties As Required.
Maintains cleanliness of the work center.
Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste and Tool Control programs.
Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
Ensures safety, security and preservation of Government and Company Owned equipment.
Deals with the customer in a courteous, professional and effective manner.
Operates portable fire fighting equipment.
May perform touch up paint.
May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachment.

Qualification Standards
Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces ground support maintenance/repair courses or equivalent is preferred but not required. Must be able to meet Government/Company licensing/ qualification requirements for the position. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have three (3) years experience in ground support maintenance occupational field or satisfactory completion of T45 OJT Program. Must be familiar with aircraft support equipment, tools, drawings, schematics, and normal safety requirements. Must have a valid state driver’s license upon applying. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to obtain/maintain require government clearance required.
Physical Demands
This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
