SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The scribe is responsible for quickly and efficiently documenting the physician’s office notes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Listen carefully to the physician’s conversation/dictation of visit with the patient.
- Quickly and efficiently record the office visit.
- Transcribe provider's encounter with patients in Electronic Medical Record system.
- Documentation may include history of present illness, general history (medical, family, social), review of symptoms, physical exam, and imaging test results.
- Documents the provider's assessment and plan and assists in coordinating patient's treatment plan, such as electronic prescriptions and referrals.
- Navigates the Electronic Medical Record and pertinent electronic applications, including point-of- care tests, lab results, and ultrasound images.
- Summarizes complex medical information in a clear, complete, and concise manner in order to generate professional, polished writing at a high rate of production.
- Optimizes work-flow efficiencies and provider documentation in real-time.
- Facilitates the efficient flow of patients, allowing providers to focus on patient care.
- Attends required meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma
- Basic medical knowledge, with ENT knowledge being preferred.
- A good listener, who is an excellent typist.
- Experience with Allscripts or Electronic Medical Records preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.
- Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to clinic setting.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
- Requires standing for 6-8 hours a day.
- Must be able to view a computer screen for an extended period of time.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, and such other equipment, as necessary.
