This meaningful work includes these specific responsibilities:
Support to Program Participants:
The VABIR Employment Consultant (EC/RU) is responsible for career services with a focus on employment, education, training and financial coaching services to adults and teens enrolled in the Reach Up programs (RU, Reach Ahead, PSE, RU ICAN). The EC/RU performs work in offices and communities where VABIR employment services are provided.
The position collaborates and works locally as a team with other VABIR EC’s and staff from partner organizations. The position informs and consults with the Program Manager related to customer, partner, job seeker and business needs or concerns, as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Implement VABIR’s vision and mission
· Receive case assignments from District RU Supervisor
· Perform as lead career consultant for all assigned cases
· Participate regularly in meetings with VABIR Team, RU supervisor and Reach Up district team meetings
· Meet regularly with participants
· Outreach to employers to understand labor market needs, job openings and employer hiring practices
· Participate in local employment groups including local Workforce Partners meetings.
· Outreach to local skill and training programs
· Share leads about employment, education and training opportunities
· Develop employment, education and training plans with participants as well as family development plans
· Assist participants to overcome barriers related to transportation, childcare and other obstacles.
· Identify support services for participants
· Effectively utilizes job search and placement tools and resources to assist job seekers with their employment goals (progressive employment, community service placements, group activities, etc.)
· Assist in development of job seeker resumes, interviewing and job seeking skills
· Develop and maintain professional relationships with team members, partners, job seekers and employers
· Arrange/provide individual or group financial coaching.
· Maintain accessibility and effective communication with partners, job seekers and employers
· Maintain accountability to local office teams and job seekers related to work activities, schedules, and work assignments
· Documents job seeker work activities and provides timely case notes
· Implements best practices in caseload management and service delivery
· Timely data entry in ACCESS system, Vermont Job Links, ESD Data Tracking tools and Salesforce
· Accountable for EC performance measures and outcomes
· Participates in continuous improvement activities in local office and VABIR
· Maintain proper etiquette while participating in virtual video meetings (ZOOM, Team’s, etc.…)
· Other duties as required
Work Environment
Duties are performed in an office setting and local communities where contracted services are provided. Reliable transportation needed to perform essential functions of the position. Travel is required for employer outreach, attending meetings and to respond to customer needs. Some work outside of the normal work schedule may be required.
Qualifications/Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in a human service or business-related field preferred. Associates degree or certification with 2 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

Minimum qualifications: Education & Experience
· Associate degree in a human service or business-related field preferred. Alternatively, 2 years of relevant employment or a combination of education and employment from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
· Reliable and consistent transportation – light regional travel is required.

Schedule:
Our team members enjoy the flexibility and support that a hybrid work environment provides. In partnership with their team and supervisor, employees develop a schedule which can combine in-office, home office, and community site work to best meet the needs of our program participants and employees. Work is typically completed in a traditional 8-hour day on a Monday-Friday Schedule
