What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller (Self-Funded/Level-Funded Health Plan Experience) position at Vaco by Highspring?
Responsibilities:
- Along with the CEO & COO, develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and plans that align with the company's short- and long-term goals. Collaborate with the executive team to establish financial objectives, budgets, and forecasts.
- Spearhead the execution of month-end and year-end close procedures to consistently deliver timely reporting packages to senior leadership and stakeholders with in-depth financial analysis to provide financial insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making processes.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory authorities, adhering to specific laws and accounting standards within a given jurisdiction.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including NAIC, state insurance depts, statutory reporting requirements, and CMS.
- Establish and maintain robust internal control systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Act as primary point of contact for external audits.
- Create and document processes and procedures that are scalable with a complex portfolio of companies and affiliate provides.
- Implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a professional certification such as CPA highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, with at least 2years of experience as a Controller, or equivalent position, within the health insuranceindustry, preferably with level-funded or self-funded plans.
- Well-versed in Medicare and Medicaid payment policies, as well as private payer contracts and value based care.
- Proficiency in financial management software and data analysis tools.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of health insuranceoperations, reimbursement models, and industry trends.

- the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;
- office location and other geographic considerations;
- other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
