About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Oil & Gas Accountant with a background in Revenue or Production Accounting to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry standards, working closely with operations, land, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue Accounting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly revenue accruals and settlements.
- Process oil, gas, and NGL revenue allocations and distributions.
- Reconcile revenue accounts and ensure compliance with contracts, regulations, and GAAP.
- Production Accounting:
- Track and reconcile production volumes from field data to financial statements.
- Validate allocations and production reports from field systems.
- Ensure accurate reporting for regulatory bodies (e.g., ONRR, state commissions).
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to resolve discrepancies in production data.
- General Accounting & Compliance:
- Assist with financial close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
- Support internal and external audits related to revenue and production.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices in oil and gas accounting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in oil & gas revenue and/or production accounting.
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles and production allocations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Quorum, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows: 75,000 - 115,000. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
