THE ROLE: We are currently seeking a motivated individual for our facility in Mars, Pennsylvania, as a Maintenance Technician. The primary responsibility of this role will be to install, repair, and maintain machines and manufacturing equipment. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining the overall facility. Other duties include fixing machinery and inspecting equipment and buildings to confirm everything meets safety standards. In addition, scheduling major repairs with the building’s staff and adhering to all environmental, health, and safety standards. Another primary responsibility will be to perform preventive maintenance on equipment and fix technical issues.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics are crucial to this role. This role also requires physical stamina and strength, as this candidate must stand for long hours and occasionally carry heavy loads.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing ongoing facility maintenance and completing repairs on equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of machines, mechanical equipment, and devices.
- Detect malfunctions through observation (sound or visual).
- Run diagnostic tests to ensure system functionality.
- Repair broken or faulty machine parts.
- Perform emergency repairs.
- Choose appropriate materials based on mechanical needs.
- Align and calibrate machine parts.
- Monitor and report on project progress.
- Follow safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives (5S Events, etc.)
- Perform wiring, plumbing, mounting, leveling, squaring, and installing all types of machinery.
- Follow OSHA protocols in all maintenance activities and other duties as assigned.
- Read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics without issue.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and other departmental policies and procedures. Help to develop proper safety techniques.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
- Read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics without issue
- Complete minor troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical-related issues without direct supervision
- Contact third-party vendors and coordinate services when required.
- Any other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in machine maintenance
- Valid driver’s license with no major violations.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and mechanics
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of safety protocols
- Understanding and certified in LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out)
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Remarkable attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred
- Demonstrate a high level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, positivity, organization, and professionalism
- Ability to operate lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, sanders, and other shop equipment preferred.
Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday 8:30 AM EST – 5:00 PM EST. This position is salaried exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay. Working outside of primary work hours and overtime may be essential given unpredictable repairs, even potentially during holidays and/or weekends.
