Position Title: Deckhand and Booking Agent – Savannah Harbor Cruises

Position Summary: To assist the Captain with the safe operation of the P/V “River Explorer” and to staff the ticketing kiosk located on River Street.
Purpose of the Position:
- To serve as deck crew aboard the River Explorer insuring a safe and enjoyable experience for our passengers.
- Keep the River Explorer clean and well maintained.
- Greet customers and make reservations at the kiosk located on River Street.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work with the Captain to ensure the safe operation of the vessel.
- Maintain a proper lookout and deck watch.
- Create an atmosphere in which excellent passenger service is the highest priority.
- Maintain a professional appearance and always bearing while on watch.
- Maintain the vessels in a high state of cleanliness and appearance.
- Be a pleasant engaging representative of the Company at our Kiosk on River Street, selling tickets, making reservations, and answering the phone.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning of the vessel you are assigned.
- Operate the retail and concession outlets aboard the vessel.
- Follow opening, closing, and inventory procedures.
- Assist the Captain in getting the vessel underway and secured to the dock as well as boarding and disembarking passengers.
- Perform regular routine maintenance as directed by the Captain or MOM.
- Assist transient vessels docking at River Street Landing.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Collaborative Responsibilities:
- Work with the Captain to enhance vessel safety and security.
- Work with the Captain to enhance the service and enjoyment of our passengers.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
- Utilize Company assets and resources in a manner that minimizes expenses and maximizes profits.
- Accurately account for cash and inventory at retail outlets aboard the vessels per Company procedures.
- Accurately process transactions for tickets and use our various Point of Sale systems for ticketing and reservations.
Reporting Responsibilities:
- Reports to the vessel Captain.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and consent to participate in the Savannah Harbor Cruises random drug screening program.
- Within thirty days of employment must obtain a certification in Red Cross CPR/First Aid.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Aboard the P/V “River Explorer”, on our dock at River Street Landing, and at the Savannah Harbor Cruises kiosk on River Street.
- These are underway and outdoor positions requiring physical agility, strength, and the ability to work outside on deck, in the elements regardless of the weather.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting pay for this position is $17.00 per hour.
- Additional compensation from sales commissions and gratuities.
- Accrue 25 GT Inland Sea Time.
- Membership in USCG DOT Random Drug Testing Program
- Once you have accrued 720 days of qualified sea service with Savannah Harbor Cruises, we will pay for you to take a study course such a sea school to prepare you to take your 25GT Motor/Aux Sail Masters license. Certain conditions apply.
