About the opportunity :
This position is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental and physical aspects of psychological problems for patients seeking psychiatric help. Conducts thorough psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, prescribes medication, and evaluates treatment results on patients. Serves as primary psychiatric consultant for a variety of behavioral health special projects including the inpatient electronic health record (EHR) build, inpatient policy and procedure development, developing inpatient reporting and quality structure. This is a five-day per week position, maintaining a minimum of 28 billable clinical hours with an additional 4-6 hours dedicated to special projects.
What you will do :
- Evaluate patients by interviewing patients, family, and other necessary persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive clinical programming and / or curriculum ensuring all service delivery is evidence-based and aligned with all state, local, federal, and regulatory requirements.
- Treat patients utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discuss progress toward goals with patients; provide instructions; monitor the effect of medications.
- Prescribe medication that can alter chemical imbalances affecting the patient’s state of mind and behavior.
- Provide clinical training to staff members on various medical and behavioral health subjects to include medication management and psychiatric evaluations.
- Serve as a liaison with other psychiatric staff and consultants and provide coverage for those persons.
- Collaborate with external behavioral health support entities for patient care.
- Maintain a comprehensive caseload based on community need and patient population need, with services delivered across all Outpatient Clinics.
- Maintain excellence in clinical documentation in alignment with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance.
- Serve as the psychiatric resource for special projects assigned by the Senior Director of Behavioral Health.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be HIPAA compliant.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school, required.
- Board certification in psychiatry, required.
- Valid state of Colorado Medical License as an MD or DO, required.
- Current DEA with no restrictions on prescribing controlled substances, required.
- Eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement, required.
- Extensive experience providing and supervising psychiatric services, prescribing psychotropic medication, performing psychiatric evaluations, and treating a wide variety of patient diagnoses / complaints.
- Knowledge of DSM V diagnoses.
