Banquet and Event Manager

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing events from start to finish, including leading a team of food and beverage professionals to ensure high quality products and outstanding customer service at all stages of the event. This includes events at: 1) Grill on the Gore restaurant, 2) Gore Range Room (including the Wedding Island), 3) Dobson Ice Arena, and 4) Ford Park concessions. Education and Experience:
Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: Five (5) years of experience in food and beverage, restaurant, banquet/event operations, and/or related field; and three (3) years of supervisory experience managing restaurants and/or events

The Vail Recreation District hosts weddings and events in our one-of-a-kind Gore Range Room at the Vail Golf Club all summer. With the upcoming event season, we need (2)two key positions who are strong, competent team leaders for our banquet staff.
Banquet Shift Leads
Banquet Shift Lead 1
This position will be responsible for opening/closing duties of the banquet facility, preparing Banquet Event Orders and working closely with the food and beverage team throughout the entirety of the event. The Shift Lead will be the acting MOD whenever the Banquet Manager is not available or present. This includes the responsibilities of opening or closing the building, responsibility for any line level staff on-site and potentially any other manager’s responsibilities as needed.
Banquet Shift Lead 2 - Ceremonies & Set Up
This position will be responsible for setting up the banquet facility, execution of ceremonies on the Wedding Island, preparing Banquet Event Orders and coordinating with vendors.
Both positions will be expected to have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and top-notch rganization skills, as our success depends on meeting our clients' tailored needs.
They will assist the Banquet Manager, direct the rest of the banquet staff and help to keep everyone productive and on task. These positions must provide a good example for the rest of the team and provide additional leadership.
3-5 years of banquet experience preferred. An ideal candidate should be able to take direction well, work cohesively as part of a team and have a positive attitude. Must be a good communicator and have a knowledge of what goes into pulling off a successful event. Strong customer service skills are necessary.
Pay: $18/hr plus service charge

Kitchen Supervisor
As a Kitchen Supervisor, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and culinary excellence within our establishment. This position is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef & Sous Chef in all aspects of the F&B operation including but not limited to food preparation, working stations on the line, opening and closing the restaurant all while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness and efficiency. The ability to utilize excellent time management to balance preparation of all food items, execution of running the line and overseeing several line level staff at a time will be crucial to the success of the overall department.
May be responsible for assisting the Culinary Management team in any and all of our food and beverage outlets within the Vail Recreation District.
Represent the golf course, food and beverage department and the Vail Recreation District in a professional and friendly way in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Adhere to all food safety guidelines
- Responsible for keeping their area and kitchens organized and neat
- Execute recipes accurately and efficiently.
- Able to create and execute prep lists
- Opening and/or closing of the kitchen
- Tasks asked by the Chef or MOD
Qualifications:
- 3 years working in a kitchen is required
- ServSafe certified or equivalent preferred
- Ability to stand for 8 hours a day
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Able to work holidays, weekends and evenings
- Can endure hot temperatures, loud noises, and some stress in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment
Wage Range: $26-$28 per hour DOE

2nd Assistant Superintendent
The Vail Golf Club is seeking an organized and motivated self-starter looking to expand their knowledge and career in the turf management industry, or a current turf professional looking to relocate to the area. The 2nd Assistant is responsible to the Superintendent and 1st Assistant. Duties include, but are not limited to: staff scheduling and supervision, calibration and fertilizer/pesticide applications, project planning, coordination, and implementation, assessing the golf course to relay information to supervisors, equipment operation, mowing, bunker detailing, course set-up, sod work, irrigation repair, maintenance, and operation, and anything else deemed necessary to the success of the golf course.
We are looking for an individual to facilitate the constant improvement of the golf course, provide exceptional experiences for our guests, and grow professionally to provide future opportunities within our organization. In the winter, this position transitions into and plays a vital role in assisting with Nordic ski trail grooming, snow removal operations, and first response activities.
This position is a full-time, year-round benefited position. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401a/457 retirement (with employer match), ski pass, paid time off and much more!
