Job Summary:
Responsible for the oversight of the Base Area Operations department throughout both winter and summer operations. Base Area Operations include transportation, grounds, parking, building maintenance, and janitorial services for the resort. This leadership role requires strong strategic thinking and emotional intelligence to solve complex business challenges while ensuring operational excellence and compliance. The position also involves community engagement and sustainability initiatives, making it integral to the resort's success and guest experience.

Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the oversight of all buildings and property inclusive of parking lot maintenance, building maintenance, traffic flow, building cleanliness, and efficient ground transportation of guests and employees.
- Provides leadership and development for managers throughout the division.
- Implement and act on customer satisfaction metrics.
- Responsible for supporting day-to-day operations.
- Champion workforce management efforts and cross-utilization of resort front line staff.
- Super user for all systems related to Base Area Operations including procurement systems, health and safety, and HR systems.
- Engages in best practice for recruitment, training, coaching, and leadership.
- Create and manage budgets for Base Area Operations, Grounds, Parking Operations, Shuttle Bus Operations & Janitorial services.
- Function as a project manager for complex capital enhancements and general facilities maintenance improvements.
- Drive awareness and implementation of safety practices for building and grounds throughout the resort.
- Collaborate with local and state governments on parking and transportation and annual operating plan.
- Oversight of resort motor vehicle records requests.
- Leadership of the resort’s environmental compliance.
- Liaison and resort lead for employee housing, including, but not limited to, transportation, experiential activities, quality of facilities, troubleshooting issues.
- Act as a steward of the environment and take ownership of Vail Resorts Zero Waste initiatives.
- Supports and leads the company’ DEI initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in resort operations or other multi-faceted operations.
- Minimum 3 years project management experience or equivalent.
- Strong leadership experience including hiring, training and performance management.
Preferred:
- Commercial Drivers License.
- Fire and Life safety code knowledge and management.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or project management.
The expected pay range is $68,545 - $87,123 annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
