We are actively seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Operations Manager to lead our mountain bike camps during the summer season. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily camp operations, coach and lead a group of campers, and shape their relationship to sport and holistic well-being. Responsibilities
- Safety & Well-being: Ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment, implementing safety protocols and addressing concerns.
- Coaching & Leadership: Lead and coach a group of campers, creating a structured, supportive, and engaging experience on the trails.
- Program Coordination: Collaborate with RIDE mentors and coaches to plan daily lessons, activities, and routes tailored to campers’ needs.
- Administrative Oversight: Manage daily check-ins/check-outs, organize Half and Full Day lists, and maintain accurate records for participants, coaches, and RIDE mentors.
- Inclusivity: Foster a welcoming, inclusive experience for all campers, celebrating diversity in race, class, gender identity, and background.
- Communication: Maintain clear, effective communication with parents, coaches, mentors, and activity partners about daily camp happenings.
- Daily Operations: Lead structured yet engaging camp setup and wrap-up, ensuring smooth daily transitions.
- Team Coordination: Participate in daily on-site check-ins and weekly meetings with the Vail Valley RIDE founder, progressing toward independently managing coach check-ins.
- Brand Representation: Uphold and promote the mission and values of Vail Valley RIDE both on and off the campsite.
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for and experience in youth camp leadership.
- Experience in youth camp operational management.
- A personal mountain bike.
- Prior experience in youth mentoring or teaching.
- Bike mechanic skills are a plus.
- Strong interest in promoting holistic health within the context of sports.
- Strong skills in registration systems management, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in managing youth within a business context.
- First Aid / CPR Certification required; further training and certification a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Reliable cell phone and transportation to and from work.
- Ability to ride mountain trails up to 10 miles and be able to carry supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.
Availability
- Must be available to work all camps. ***can adjust a few days as needed if covered.
- Camp hours are 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, during the following sessions:
- June 9-12, 16-19, 23-26, June 30-July3
- July 7-10, 14-17, 21-24, 28-31
- August 4-7, 11-14
- Additionally, 5-10 hours of administrative duties per week and an opportunity to expand to private lessons.
